Denied Home-Cooked Biryani, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and CSK Storm Out of Hyderabad Hotel: Reports

In a rare show of 'anger', Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings teammates reportedly walked out of a five-star hotel in Hyderabad on Wednesday because they were refused from eating home-cooked biryani sent by Team India team-mate Ambati Rayudu, who is a local lad.

The incident happened soon after Chennai Super Kings lost their Champions League Twenty20 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

According to a report in the Times of India, Dhoni was angry because Hotel Grand Kakatiya officials refused to let in home-cooked biryani as it violated its stringent policies. Dhoni was not amused. Denied the world-famous biriyani, the entire Chennai Super Kings moved to Kakatiya's rival chain, Taj Krishna.

The sudden change in hotels caught the security off-guard, but Dhoni was adamant, said the report. Tournament officials said about 180 rooms were booked for the Champions League Twenty20 at Grand Kakatiya. The rooms had been cleared by security officials.

Hotel officials refused to confirm whether Dhoni's love for biryani triggered the unsavoury episode. The report suggested that the hotel was willing to relent and let the players eat in the privacy of their rooms, but Dhoni insisted a 'party' in the hotel's boardroom. Apparently, the hotel refused.

BCCI and CSK officials confirmed the sudden shift in hotel but refused to confirm if biryani was the decisive factor. Chennai are now in Bangalore for their next match against the Dolphins on Monday.
