Cirque du Soleil Will Be Coming To INDIA Soon With A New Show

So far, to watch a Cirque du Soleil show, one had to travel to a country in which they’re performing or Las Vegas, where they stage productions through the year. No longer. BookMyShow is bringing them to India for the first time, this year. The Canadian theatricals company will stage its latest production, ‘Bazzar’, in November. This is Cirque’s 43rd theatrical.

Cirque is known for spectacles in which acrobats, gymnasts, trapeze artists, contortionists perform body-bending, gravity-defying feats. In the show, artists performing trapeze, slackline, roller skating, contortion, acrobatic bike and teeterboard will create on stage the madness and bustle of a bazaar.

Mallakhamb, the Indian gymnastic discipline in which practitioners perform on a pole, will feature in a Cirque show for the first time. In a nod to the street-performing founders of Cirque, there will also be fire-breathing and stilt walking. All this will be carried out by an international cast of 30 performers and musicians and a 16-member technical team inside a 62-foot high big top.

Costumes are taken pretty seriously at Cirque. All the clothes and props for the shows, including ‘Bazzar’ are made in-house at their workshop in Montreal. For instance, in 2017, close to 16,000 pieces of clothing and accessories were made using 30km of fabric.

Headquartered in Montreal, Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984. However the idea for a travelling circus was born two years prior in the small town of Baie-Saint-Paul near Quebec City. A group of street performers impressed the townsfolk and went on to start a yearly cultural event. One of them was Guy Laliberte, the founder of Cirque du Soleil. In 1984, Cirque was formed with help from the Quebec government on the 450th anniversary of the arrival of Jacques Cartier, the French explorer who staked France’s claim on Canada.

Registrations are now live on BookMyShow. For more on Cirque du Soleil, see here.

Chennai’s OMR to get Marina Mall

OMR Mall Developers Pvt Ltd (OMRD) plans to construct a 5,40,000 square feet shopping centre, Marina Mall, on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR or Rajiv Gandhi Salai) in Chennai.

The company has raised a debt funding of Rs 244 crore from Kotak India Real Estate Fund for the completion of its shopping centre. OMRD is a special purpose vehicle promoted by Mukrim Habeeb and developer Allied Investments and Housing Pvt Ltd

A 126-room hotel and a residential property will also be developed at Marina Mall, with an additional 4.50 lakh square feet of car park. The project is expected to be finished within 8-10 months.

"This funding will help fast track the development of our Marina Mall in Chennai, which we expect to become a shopping destination. This will be the only Grade-A shopping centre in a 25-km radius, housing top national and international brands and fulfilling the social need of the OMR stretch," said Habbeb.

The mall has been designed to give a 360-degree view from the main atrium. The centre will have an eight-screen multiplex, a large family entertainment centre and about 100 stores, including key retailers such as Lifestyle, Spar Hypermarket, Inox, Pantaloons, Reliance Trends, Max Fashions, Home Centre.

Chennai will add 4 malls to existing 12 by 2020

The city will add four new shopping malls to the existing 12 by 2020, increasing its total mall retail space by 38% -from 5 million sqft to 6.9 million sqft.

Over the course of the next three years, 34 new malls, spread over 13.6 million sqft, will come up across the country, with Hyderabad accounting for one-third of this space and Chennai 11%, says a report by international realty consultant Cushman & Wakefield.

Malls in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune, the report says, will supplement space in their current inventory by around 20% in the same period.

Of the new malls coming up in Chennai -where Phoenix Market City (1 million sqft) is now the largest -two will be in Velachery and one each in Anna Nagar and Navalur. VR Mall in Anna Nagar, nearing completion, will measure up to Phoenix in size, the report says.

Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pure are the only major cities where new malls opened this year; none were opened in Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Malls in Delhi added 3.1 million sqft last year, while Chennai and Hyderabad drew a blank. Mumbai was the only city to add mall space in 2017 (1.1million sqft) over 2016 (8.5 lakh sqft). Pune dropped from 8.37 lakh sqft last year to 6 lakh sqft this year.

While there was a 55% jump in mall space leasing (2.3 million sqft) across the country between January and September 2017, new supply , at 1.9 million sqft, during the period was a yearon-year decline of 63%.
Developers have regained confidence, with investors showing greater commitment. Private equity funds invested an estimated `7,959 crore in malls between January 2016 and September 2017, the report said.

After a prolonged period of slow growth, the retail sector has regained momentum, it said. "Increasingly it is understood that retail malls will continue to hold importance as a "destina tion going beyond stores and selling," the report said.Even e-commerce firms are establishing a physical presence through "experience" stores in malls and on prominent high streets, it said.

"With the estimated size of retail sector pegged at Rs 1 trillion by 2020, at a CAGR of approximately 15% between 2016 and 2020, the scope for retail real estate remains high. With foreign retailers entering the country and aggressively expanding, brands prefer to be located in malls that are likely to have higher occupancy levels," said Cushman & Wakefield India country head and MD Anshul Jain.

The only city not expected to see any change in the mall sector in the next few years is Ahmedabad, which remains a large high street retail city, the report said.

KANCHANA 3 - Horror-Comedy starring Raghava Lawrence, Oviya, Vedhika

Doopaadoo, a south India's leading online musical platform, started by CEO Kauntheya Sivananthan and lyricist Madhan Karky to support independent musicians, has now started the songs bank. As per this scheme, filmmakers who are in need of songs, can take the song from the bank, and feature it in their movie, crediting the music director, lyricist, and the singer.

Film Kanchana 3, starring Actress Vedhika who teamed up with Raghava Lawrence in the first part is now sharing the screen space with Raghava Lawrence in the fourth instalment. The other female lead roles will be played by "Big Boss" Oviya and newcomer Nikita.

He said to use 3 songs from Doopaadoo, for his horror comedy film, while he has also acquired two other songs too, which he is expected to use in his next venture, after Kanchana 3. On the whole, Raghava Lawrence will supposedly be using 5 songs from Doopaadoo. An official announcement regarding this is expected to be out soon.

This is a new platform that will definitely pave a new way of a musical renaissance. “Tracks from DooPaaDoo’s song back has already been used in a couple of bi-lingual movies which are yet to release”, adds Madhan Karky.

Oviya Helen, who is making waves in showbiz after her stint on Bigg Boss Tamil, seems to be on a signing spree. After Katteri with director Deekay, the buzz is that Oviya will now be part of Raghava Lawrence’s next movie in his Kanchana/Muni series. A picture of the young actor with choreographer-actor-director Raghava Lawrence is also doing the rounds on social media. This will be the fourth instalment of Lawrence’s Muni franchise that comprises a set of horror-entertainers. With a liberal dose of humour, the director had successfully managed to sell horror to family audiences. If the template is followed, Oviya is most likely to be essaying the role of a ghost. While Muni had Vedhika and Kanchana featured Raai Lakshmi, Kanchana 2 starred Tapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen.

Katteri will see Oviya paired opposite Telugu actor Aadi who is making his Tamil debut with the movie. The film will be produced by Studio Green’s K.E.Gnanavel Raja.

After her stint on Bigg Boss Tamil, it looks like Oviya is using her newfound fame smartly. The actor was recently roped to be the face of a popular clothing chain in Chennai. Oviya was also seen at the store launch of the brand where she was greeted by a massive crowd. With her ‘Army’ gaining massive strength, several people are trying to cash in on her popularity. The filmmakers of Cheeni even renamed an in-the-cans film Oviyaava Vitta Yaaru. She has also played an extended cameo in Vishnu Vishal’s upcoming film Silukkuvarpatti Singam, which is touted to be her comeback on the big screen.

The Evolution of Digital Comics

Author Bio: Amy Boyd is a huge fan of anime. She has written several blogs about anime and other information related to Japanese culture. She has also been to Japan several times on a holiday trip.

When you think of manga and anime, you immediately think of Japan. These concepts started in Japan, but they now have a worldwide impact. Even in countries like India where you don’t think they would have a massive impact, they comics have become increasingly popular.

The popularity of Japanese comics has gone to an entirely new level with the birth of webtoons or digital comics. It is like reading these comics but through a digital platform. It is different from simply watching anime videos.

Not only did webtoons reach neighbouring countries like India, it has also stretched out to North and South America. Its readership has increased to double digit percentage in just a few years. When webtoons started, they were a thing only in South Korea and Japan.

However, given the ability of the stories to connect to a diverse audience, webtoons are now all around the world. They have over 30 billion accumulated views over the years. There is also an average of 6.1 million readers on a daily basis.

If these numbers indicate anything, it is the fact that webtoons will continue soaring higher. With more contents available online, more people have been hooked up with webtoons. This is also a good thing for webtoon authors.

They are now earning upwards of $80,000 per month because of the increasing number of digital comics fans.

Without a doubt, digital comics have taken the world by storm. If you want to know more about it, check out the infographic below.

Whatever you do, do not drape your saree like Shilpa Shetty

There's a very, very fine line between beautiful and weird when it comes to experimental fashion. The latest thing that has caught tinsel-towners' attention for experimentation is the traditional Indian saree.

Yes, we agree that the six-yard wonder was being draped in exactly the same way (more or less) over the past many decades. And yes, a refreshing experiment or two in that direction was more than needed. But what Shilpa Shetty wore recently actually made us feel a little bad for playing around with such a beautiful traditional piece of clothing.

This is what Shilpa Shetty recently wore:

Now, we're all for experimental fashion. But this saree is just taking things to a whole new level of weird. The IKAI saree is not just looking uncomfortably draped--we wonder how she's walking in it--but it also looks incomplete. The attire is more of a skirt with pallu, worn with a contrasting coloured crop-top. And those Louboutin pumps are just the wrong pick for the attire, especially the colour.

The sad part is, Shilpa has experimented with sarees in the past too, and has emerged looking rather beautiful in them. Here's the case in point:

This one experiment, however, just went a little over the top, Shilpa.

Riya Sen Forcefully Pulls Down Her Ragini MMS Returns Co-Star's Pants And He Finds It Amusing

Riya Sen was recently in the news for excessive PDA with her husband Shivam Tiwari. An Instagram post by her broke the Internet, where the couple was seen locking lips.

Now seems like Sen is hell bent on keeping the spotlight on her. If reports are to be believed, Sen 'sexually harassed' her Ragini MMS Returns co-star Nishant Malkani and he found it amusing.

In an interview with BollywoodLife, Malkani narrated the incident and said: “So I remember the other day when we were shooting for this love making scene, Riya suddenly got so happy and suggested I should pull down my pants and flaunt my butt cheek just like how John Abraham did in Dostana 2. I didn’t take her seriously until she literally pulled down my pants while we were shooting the scene and exposed my butt cheek. I was like whattt?? At least you could have told me before doing it and she was like oh don’t worry, people seeing your butt cheeks are going to love you. Trust me all the women are going to love you…you have a great body and this and that I couldn’t go beyond “Riya kya kar rahi hai yaar, bata toh deti?”

“I don’t know if that’s (the scene) there in the film or no ya but it’s a very funny thing that happened. But I hope her words come true. Like whole world talking about me and my butt."

Nishant Malkani turns down reports of sexual harassment by Ragini MMS Returns actress Riya Sen

© IBTimesReports were making the rounds on the internet that Riya Sen caused s***** harassment to her co-star Nishant Malkani while shooting for a steamy lovemaking scene in their upcoming Alt Balaji's new erotica web series Ragini MMS Returns. Turning down all the reports, Nishant has finally opened up about the entire episode denying the claim that he was the victim of s***** harassment and objectification by Riya Sen.

While the actor was merely elaborating one of the funny incidents in an interview, his words were completely blown out of proportion which often happens in the world driven by social media.

"I was stunned with all the reports of Riya s******* harassing me. For God's sake, I would know if I was s******* harassed. And I am man enough to own up to it if it happened. It is ridiculous to even suggest that Riya took advantage of me. If she pulled my pants down she did it for the scene. I am okay with it. She's okay with it. Her husband is okay with it. Then who are these people shouting about s***** harassment?" Nishant told DNA in a report adding that s***** harassment is a very serious matter and it should not be trivialised and used for making sensational headlines.

"We were shooting a bedroom sequence where we had to get intimate. In the bid to make it as real as possible we were both improvising. Riya pulled my track pants down, and that too just a bit," he said adding that it is equally important for a man or a woman to come forward if you are s******* harassed.

Arjun Reddy Ending Its Theatrical Run

Sensational hit "Arjun Reddy" has completed three week-run in movie theaters and is now entering fourth week, but the distributors are scrapping the number of screens.

After a terrific start and good collections during the first 15 days, the revenue has fallen drastically in the past one week.

Though the film won critical acclaim and has been liked by youth, it did have a setback due to the overt public speeches of the film's hero Vijay Devarakonda.

While it did not have competition from recent releases like "Paisa Vasool", "Yuddham Saranam" and "Meda Meeda Abbayi", "Arjun Reddy" started showing a fall in revenues.

On the other hand, "Fidaa" that has already completed 50 days is making more money than "Arjun Reddy" in Hyderabad.

So trade pundits say that the film will be taken off screens next week as the Dassera films will hit the screens.

"Arjun Reddy" was sold for mere Rs 6 crore and it brought in profits to distributors within three days. Its total share is in the range of Rs 23 crore world-wide.

Had the team been more careful and planned well, the film would have easily crossed the Rs 30 crore mark.

A modern interpretation in a classical way

For Janani Murali, dance and Indian mythology take on a new meaning in her latest performance

Classical dancer Janani Murali dons many hats – entrepreneur, biologist, writer and mother. Daughter of renowned dancer Padma Murali, Janani sticks to classical dance boundaries in form, but looks for contemporary ideas in presentation. The beauty is she uses stories from Indian mythology to do this.

Trained in the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatya, the dancer is in the news for her choreographed solo piece, Savitri – Narratives of the Heart with which she has travelled across the country and abroad.

The young dancer talks to Metroplus abouther passion for dance and how a change in one’s thought process can bring in different perceptions to our age-old stories.

Excerpts:

When did you start dancing?

I don’t remember when, but my brochure says I started off when I was five. I remember dancing forever. I learnt from my mother. I also worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a researcher and majored in biology and chemistry. Balancing dance and studies was not stressful at all. There was never a compulsion for me to do anything in my life. Dance has always been a constant. There was never a point where I had to decide to do this or that. So, I went on to do research and continued dancing. I gave up research when my daughter was born in 2011. I took a break from the nine-to-five job and decided to work from home. If you think working from home is a good thing, you have another thing coming.

You are working constantly at odd hours. It was getting stressful and that is when dance happened.

How did your solo piece ‘Savitri...’ come to be?

Last year, when I was trying to decide what next, I came across the story of Sati Savitri. The story was a revival, in a sense, since my mother had presented it years ago. I wanted to revive that production with a new perspective. It is very different from what she presented.

What prompted you to revive the story?

Some childhood stories stick in your head. This was one of them. There were many questions in my mind as to why and what about Savitri. I wanted to take it beyond just the story. Bharatanatya is a narrative of stories. I started thinking ‘why does it have to always be a lovelorn nayika and all about jeevatma and paramatma? People also question us as to why we always present the nayikapining for her beloved. Especially, with so much talk on feminism happening, it also gets you thinking, ‘what am I presenting to my audience?’

How did people react to the presentation?

These characters are metaphors, which are really lost to us. We have to tell the audience about them so they can relate to them. The story is about the metaphors of destiny, desire and love. You also wonder if there is something called divine love. The audience asks us these questions. And I am glad that they do, for they too have grown in varied ways. And their questioning helps us to look at new angles as artistes. Then a dance becomes a communication rather than just a performance. That is the beauty of Indian mythology and classical dance. It can remain a simple story or go beyond, depending on how you think. They may be ancient, but can be interpreted in many modern ways.

How Game of Thrones season 7 went awry, Waiting for Season 8 on 2018

Arya and Sansa discuss recent events. HBO

Here’s a question I keep asking myself: What happened in the seventh season of Game of Thrones?

By that, I don’t mean what were the series of events that transpired on the show. It’s easy enough to compile a plot summary that makes season seven sound reasonably coherent. I mean what was the purpose of anything that happened? What were the deeper themes or character dynamics being explored?

Or, to put it another way: Was there a single storyline that didn’t endlessly run in circles while waiting for the Wall to come down and the White Walkers to march into Westeros? Season seven was, by and large, a waiting game.

We knew Jon and Dany would probably hook up — but we had to wait. We knew somebody would figure out Jon’s parentage — but we had to wait. We knew the White Walkers would somehow threaten the Seven Kingdoms as they never had before — but we had to wait.

This led to what might be Game of Thrones’ weirdest season yet. Season seven was often incredibly fun (those set pieces!), but it felt more weightless than even some of its weaker predecessors (looking at you, season five). Right at the worst possible time, it’s become all but impossible to figure out just what anything on the show means.
Game of Thrones has lost the plot when it comes to anything other than showing the audience a good time

Let’s use season seven’s Sansa and Arya plotline as a microcosm for its issues as a whole. After Arya returns to Winterfell (and the two have a heartfelt reunion), Littlefinger begins to plant seeds of dissension in the sisters’ relationship, seeds that culminate in Arya threatening Sansa’s life in the season’s penultimate episode. It turns out, however, that Littlefinger was the one in danger, as Sansa and Arya catch onto his ruse (with an assist from Bran, who can see into the past). Arya ultimately slits his throat.

The outcome of this plot — Sansa and Arya’s bond is stronger than ever, and the North also has a hold over the military forces of the Vale (who were formerly under Littlefinger’s command) — isn’t bad. But all of the legwork to get there was far too convoluted and makes little to no sense if you think about it for more than a couple of seconds.

My initial thought was that Arya and Sansa were plotting this eventuality all along, which is why they went along with Littlefinger’s scheme just long enough to put him in a position where they could kill him. But if that’s the case, why were there so many scenes featuring just the two sisters, scenes that Littlefinger couldn’t plausibly know about? And if going along with Littlefinger wasn’t an act, then the storytelling is even stranger, because Sansa and Arya spent a lot of time fighting about things that seemed largely out of character, as opposed to all of the things they really did have to fight about (as The Ringer’s Alison Herman outlines here). This Variety interview with Isaac Hempstead Wright (who plays Bran) suggests the latter interpretation — but the scene cut from the episode only underlines even more how the show chose to obfuscate its storytelling rather than be straight with its audience.Happy love times. HBO

The inescapable conclusion is that the scenes themselves served little purpose other than to mislead viewers, in hopes of making the moment where Sansa reveals that it’s Littlefinger who’s on trial, rather than Arya, more surprising and satisfying. And the more you look at season seven as a whole, the more you realize that it pulls this same sort of trick throughout — stories make little sense at the macro level because the show is so intent on outmaneuvering the audience on a micro level.

Game of Thrones’ reliance on this tactic gets even worse when you start to examine individual scenes from season seven within the context of their overall story arcs. Oftentimes, I would watch a scene and have no idea what it was supposed to convey, beyond raw plot information. The character dynamics the show had established were either pointlessly stretched out (as with Arya and Sansa) or heedlessly rushed (as with the gallop to get Jon and Dany into bed). And the show’s larger themes of power and its responsible wielding were largely thrown out the window in favor of a focus on big, catastrophic moments.

Not every show needs to make its scene-to-scene intentions clear. For a concurrently running example, I often have no idea what the point of a scene is on Twin Peaks, but part of the show’s appeal is getting lost in its strange, mysterious world. Game of Thrones, however, was built atop straightforward, muscular storytelling. You knew the reasoning behind every scene. You knew what each character wanted in that scene. And you knew the consequences of what would happen if they didn’t get it. but in season seven, the series quit showing its work. Too many scenes existed just to exist.

When you consider that Game of Thrones is no longer being adapted from George R.R. Martin’s books, but from some outlines he wrote for what he thought the final books mightbe, the shift we saw in season seven makes sense. Previous seasons could strand Arya in a plot cul-de-sac (as when she spent the bulk of season two as Tywin Lannister’s cupbearer), but use that plot cul-de-sac to both deepen her character and build tension over whether Tywin would realize her identity. Season seven only used such plot cul-de-sacs to trace the same patterns over and over again.

You could conceivably blame this circular storytelling go Game of Thrones’ soap opera DNA, which often dictates that stories advance glacially, then all at once — an approach that may not have had enough room to breathe in season seven’s shortened seven-episode run (all of the show’s previous seasons ran for a full 10 episodes).

But I would point to a different “culprit.” Namely, the way we talk about Game of Thrones, the way we consume Game of Thrones, and the way we think about Game of Thrones has almost no connection to its actual quality.
We talk about Game of Thrones like it’s really happening. That’s a little weird.

When Game of Thrones is on the air, it’s almost impossible to discuss anything else on TV if you have a job like mine. I could tell you how much I’m enjoying Freeform’s The Bold Type, or talk about how Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival feels like a weekly revelation, or mourn the end of Halt and Catch Fire. But inevitably, the conversation turns to Game of Thrones — as it must.

There have always been shows like this. Whether it’s Seinfeld or The X-Files, The Sopranosor Lost, there are always shows that transcend their TV roots to become pop culture monoliths that everybody enjoys discussing and arguing about. When a show achieves that level of cultural omnipresence, not watching it is almost a commentary in and of itself.

But where discussions about these culturally omnipresent shows usually center on some sort of element of the show itself — how will the writers handle this story? What’s the next big twist going to be? What joke made you laugh the most? — discussions around Game of Thrones tend to take the form of Monday-morning quarterbacking. Let’s offer military advice to Daenerys. Let’s fret over how Sam won’t listen to Gilly about a very significant wedding. Let’s rank and rate the political strategies of the show’s major players.

I don’t mean to suggest this stuff isn’t fun. As someone who writes a weekly column naming the show’s major players as winners or losers, I can assure you it is very, very fun to treat this obviously unreal scenario as though it were really happening. Watching Game of Thronesfunctions somewhat similarly to sports — rooting for certain “teams” and really caring about events that you have absolutely no bearing on can be a good pressure release valve at a time when we’re all in need of as many pressure release valves as we can find.
YEEEEEEEAAAAHHHH! HBO

But it also, I think, lets the show off the hook a little bit. Let’s go back to that scene where Sam wouldn’t listen to Gilly, for example. It’s been written about in terms of its resonance with the way men don’t listen to women in the workplace, and in terms of the secret Gilly had likely uncovered, and in terms of a whole bunch of other things. But few have written about the scene in terms of it being as a really bad writing decision — a way to put off a major event we knew was coming in transparently silly fashion. It could have worked if Game of Thrones had leaned into the ridiculousness of how it was plainly stalling for time, but the show didn’t do that. It simply acted as though we all knew Sam couldn’t find out about Jon’s parents until the season finale.

Season seven was replete with these sorts of bad writing choices, which were often saved by the performances or direction. The journey north to capture a wight made no logistical sense even before you introduce goofy timeline shenanigans — but boy did it look cool! It’s not immediately clear if the Night King had a plan B to bring down the Wall if he didn’t somehow capture a dragon — but boy did it look cool! Cersei and Tyrion spent a huge chunk of time in the finale informing each other of things they already knew — but boy are those actors great!

Please note that none of this means Game of Thrones is bad. I finished watching almost every episode of season seven with a stupid grin on my face, and it only became apparent how little sense it made once I started trying to write about it.

But it’s in those moments when you step back and really scrutinize the show that you realize it’s just good and immersive enough to escape being evaluated as a piece of television. So instead, we talk about it like it’s the daily news.

And that’s what might come back to hurt it in the end. By offering up a penultimate season so devoted to misleading the audience and stalling for time and hauling out moments of fan service, Game of Thrones has only set the bar it has to clear in its eighth and final season that much higher.

Malayalam actress abduction case: Aju Varghese arrested for naming the survivor

Malayalam actor-producer Aju Varghese on Tuesday was arrested for publicly naming the survivor, who was kidnapped and allegedly ***ually assaulted in a moving car in Kochi earlier this year. He was later let off by the Kalamaserry police on the station bail.

A complaint filed by one Gireesh Babu, a Kalamassery native, led to Aju's arrest. His arrest was recorded after the Kerala High Court refused to entertain the actor's plea to quash the proceedings against him based on the complaint. He even submitted an affidavit from the survivor that said she has no interest in pressing charges against her 'friend'.

However, the court refused to accept his arguments and observed that submitting an affidavit from the victim about his or her unwillingness not to pursue charges was not a ground for relieving the accused of the charges.

Following which, the police booked Aju under the IPC 228 (A), which prevents revealing the identity of the victim and subsequently arrested him.

In July, he was grilled at Kalamassery station during which the actor's iPhone, which was used to post the controversial social media post, was also seized.

Before the arrest of Malayalam superstar Dileep in the case, Aju has defended the former even as he named the survivor in his Facebook post. While describing the crime against his woman colleague as "unpardonable," he had claimed that there was a deliberate attempt to frame Dileep for the crime that he did not commit. Later, he removed the name of the actress from the controversial post but not before drawing criticisms.

Dileep has been lodged in Aluva Sub Jail for more than 50 days after he was arrested on July 10 on various counts of criminal charges including gang-rape. During initial days of the investigation, when Dileep's name cropped up in the media and the police investigation, many industry's heavy-weights had come to his defence. However, almost everyone disowned his friendship after he was arrested in the case.

Vivegam movie reviews

Director: Siva

Cast: Ajith, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal and Akshara Haasan

Rating: 2.5/5

Ajith’s highly anticipated Vivegam is an ambitious film, both in terms of scale and making, but not all such attempts, particularly in this case, deserve praise. Siva and Ajith have teamed up for the third time in Vivegam, and they desperately try to take things up a notch by setting their story against a lavish, international backdrop, only to fail miserably in the process and churn out a half baked product which is fuelled by great action.

Ajith is his effervescent self as he plays an agent, Ajay Kumar. He leads the anti-terrorist squad whose members include Vivek Oberoi, Aarav Choudhary, Amilia Terzimehic and Serge Crozon-Cazin. They make quite a team and their friendship is the pillar of their relationship. They’re on a mission to stop a nuclear attack but things don’t pan out the way they anticipated, especially for Ajith.

Siva’s intention to make an international film, on a scale Tamil cinema hasn’t witnessed so far, is truly commendable, but his writing is a huge let down. Despite great action, which is the film’s saving grace, the twists are very predictable and it gets worse post interval. The pre-interval portion, especially the stretch that leads to Akshara Haasan’s introduction, is easily the film’s best sequence. It builds the tension effectively and is followed by a breathtaking chase sequence on the streets of Serbia.

Vivek Oberoi, despite his earnest performance, is made to look like a joker in a poorly written role. He repeats his dialogues way too many times, and it’s quite irritating. Kajal Aggarwal, in a surprisingly decent role where more is expected of her than just looking good, plays the hapless wife of Ajith to the T, and it’s easily one of her better performances yet. Akshara Haasan is merely cast in a cameo of a hacker, and one really wonders what drew her to this project.

It’s Ajith’s show all the way and he packs a solid punch. Going by the visuals, the effort he has put in to play the part is quite evident. There couldn’t have been a better star to play his character and he is a treat to watch. It’s sad that all that hard work gets lost in a film that needed better writing.

Nawazuddin Clarifies Chitrangada Singh Shot For The Intimate Scene But Opted Out Because Of Script Issues

Nawazuddin Siddiqui reveals it was not just the petticoat controversy, Chitrangada Singh had other issues with the script of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.

A lot of actresses in the tinsel town have gone bold when it comes to shooting intimate scenes. Many times several people from the film fraternity have said that it’s totally professional when it comes to filming such scenes.

But what had shocked the audience sometime back was Chitrangada Singh walking out of Kushan Nandy’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. She cited discomfort as the reason for doing the same, and in fact, hinted that it was a forced sex scene and had a fallout with the director.

Opening about the incident, she had earlier said in a Spotboye.com interview:

“We finished the shot and Kushan said that he didn't like it. He wanted me to lie on top of Nawaz. Now let me tell you that I was wearing a petticoat for that scene. I turned around to tell Kushan about my predicament. I told him: 'Ho toh gaya. Kyun kar raha hai aise? Please try to understand that I am wearing a petticoat. But, he was in no mood to listen and we ended up having a big, loud argument. And wait till you hear this! A few minutes later he went and told Nawaz that we had shot the intimate scene very well!! Can you beat that?”

Soon after she walked out of the film, Bidita Bag was roped in as a replacement. Now that the movie is nearing its release date, Nawaz was once again asked about the controversy. Saying that Bidita was highly professional when it came to filming intimate scenes, he revealed that Chitrangada actually had issues with the script.

“The intimate scenes had already been shot with Chitrangda Singh before she decided to walk out. She had other issues with the script because of which she decided to step away from the film,” Nawaz recently revealed in an interview with Spotboye.com.

No one believes this Italian actress is nearly 60: 'You look better than 20'

An Italian woman has wowed her Instagram followers with her age-defying looks.

Pamela Prati – an actress, television presenter, and model - is frequently mistaken for a 20-year-old when she shares photos online.

But she's not in her twenties. Or even her thirties.

In fact, Pamela turns 59 in November.

Italian media are so awestruck by her looks that they describe her as someone who has "found the elixir of eternal youth".

And her loyal online followers can't get enough of the brunette's selfies and poolside snaps.

"A 30-year-old can only dream of a class and a physical statuary like this," one fan wrote on one of her photos, while another commented, "You look better than twenty".

One person told Pamela that "time has stopped in front of your beauty".

The actress says her youthful looks' "secret is a proper nutrition and regular exercise."

Pamela has a Spanish father and Italian mother and was born in northern Sardinia, a large Italian island in the Mediterranean. She moved to Rome when she was in her late teens and began working as a model.

And Pamela isn't the only model to baffle the world with her youthful looks. Recently, a Singaporean model caused quite the stir on social media.

Chuando Tan's chiselled and youthful complexion had the world thinking he was a twenty-something, though he actually turned 50 earlier this year.

His secret?

He said his looks and ripped physique are down to frequent exercise, avoiding baths and showers too early or late at night, and finally, spicy Hainanese chicken.

Yep – he has that meal every day.

Bigg Boss Tamil fame Oviya summoned by cops for alleged suicide attempt

Actor Oviya, who became the darling of the masses after her stint on popular television show Bigg Boss Tamil, has been summoned by Nazarathpet police for allegedly attempting to commit suicide on the show. The actor recently exited the show on medical grounds.

The complainant has claimed that the Oviya was driven to suicide by the tasks forced upon her by the producers, the show’s host and the channel. He alleged they had driven her to attempt suicide and telecast the same to gain TRP ratings. The channel had telecasted visuals of Oviya immersing herself into a pool on August 4. He also urged the police to probe the same.

The Nazarathpet police said that the preliminary investigation is in progress. “We have recorded the complaint in the Community Social Register (CSR). We spoke to Oviya’s personal secretary, who denied that she attempted suicide,” he told The Hindu.

Oviya was the most popular contestant in the Tamil version of Bigg Boss, which is hosted by veteran actor Kamal Haasan. She recently quit the show as she couldn’t handle her feelings for a fellow contestant, Aarav, whom she said she was in love with. Oviya was seen undergoing significant mental duress on her last few days on the show.

Bigg Boss has also attracted its fair share of controversies. The show has been served several legal notices for the behaviour of its contestants.

Puthiya Tamizhagam founder-president Dr K Krishnaswamy had filed a suit against the actor and the channel amid others over Choreographer Gayathri Raghuram’s comment on the show. She had used the word ‘cheri’ (slum) while talking about a fellow housemate’s behaviour on the show.

In another instance, the Tamil Nadu Isai Vellalar Ilaignar Nala Sangam had served legal notices to Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and Star Vijay for ‘defaming’ the community. The group had claimed that actor Shakti handled the Nadasvaram without respect on the show.

A PIL was also filed in the Madras High Court asking the show to be stopped from being produced immediately as the sartorial choices and behaviour of women contestants is ‘vulgar and obscene’.
